Professional musicians and educators created the Kansas City String Quartet Program (KCSQP) in 1994, which offers two sets of one-week education and performance training each summer for middle and high school students in Missouri and Kansas. Pembroke Hills hosts the program. In 2009, parents and staff organized a benefit concert to raise money for the program. I was asked to write press releases and help publicity efforts. The March 14, 2010 program was called “It’s A String Thing” and featured four international renowned artists, cellist Matt Haimovitz, violist Thula Ngwenyama, and two members of the KCSQP faculty, violinista Andy Simionescu and Elizabeth Suh Lane.
